It had been scrubbed before for bad weather that didn’t happen. There was a lot of press there because the Reagan administration was making it a kind of a big deal with the whole shuttle system. There was just a lot of pressure to launch.

But remember folks they got that tin can to the moon in the 1960s and then managed to broadcast live from the moon .. when people spent hours moving around trying to get a signal on their tv every night.. ALL 81 telemetry tapes of THE MOST HISTORIC MOMENT were ALL taped over .. because NASA couldn’t afford new tapes .. they openly admitted they didn’t have the tech to break the Van Allen belt .. and they destroyed all the work and technology after they’d been there once .. oh and Stanley Kubrick.. who’s 2001 space odyssey is a bit of a clue was then granted the unthinkable.. complete artistic control over his movies for his whole career.. come on people.. use your brains!!! We have been lied to time and time and time again…

It was stupid to launch in freezing cold weather and if the astronauts knew the danger shouldn't have boarded. Where is the commonsense? That was a suicide launch.

Hindsight is 20/20 but I wonder what would have happened if those engineers from Thiokol had went to the astronauts directly and / or the media told them the orbiter isn't safe. Do not fly.

My father was stationed at Cape Kennedy from 64 to 67 which allowed us to witness numerous early launches from Cocoa Beach. I grew up with the space program and entered service with the Air Force in 1980. This day was hard on me as a new staff sergeant fighting the Cold war against Russia because any setback with the military or space program meant no freedom for East Berlin or from nuclear war.

I watched this video out of curiosity because I enjoy analyzing various perspectives. The most logical explanation of "hell" to me is the concept of reincarnation: having a chance to correct past mistakes by returning to live in another human body, learning lessons to evolve. Hell is here on Earth, within our minds, fueled by guilt over our wrongdoings. How can God, a father of love, compassion, and justice, let his children burn in hellfire for eternity? Isn't there a chance to learn and improve? What kind of loving father would do that? From the perspective of this channel, you don’t go to hell, but you also don’t learn anything-you either sleep or engage in something else without the opportunity to evolve. This explanation doesn’t satisfy me either. Spirits need to evolve to become superior spirits. One day, when all lessons of love are learned, we will become evolved spirits and help others reach the same level of spirituality, creating a better world. Have you noticed how intelligent, sensitive, and wise today's kids are? They are the new generation reincarnating with a mission to save our planet. These are my opinions. Take care.

It's very interesting that he mentions the many cancellations that happened before their launch because that really was a factor in their launching. The weather was terrible and they probably should have postponed it but because they had done so so many times they were embarrassed to delay it again. All the press was there and nasa was always trying to please the public so they could continue getting funding. So they did not want to disappoint the public and the press again and they went ahead and launched when they should not have. My husband worked in aviation at that time and he was shocked that they launched that day. When it turned out to be the o-rings that caused the crash, that was a part that reacted to temperature.
